Confirmation Background:

Confirmation Parents Informational Meeting for the Confirmation 2010 - 2011 year will be on September 5th, 2010 and September 12th, 2010. Both meetings will be identical, so please pick a Sunday that works best for you. The meeting will immediately follow the contemporary service. Acolyte sign-ups and calendaring are available at both meetings. We look forward to serving your family this year.

Confirmation, historically in the Lutheran Church is the celebration of the "Affirmation of Baptism." When one stands in front of the supportive body (the church) that has helped to shape and mold the confirmand. The declarations made by the confirmand is to renounce the world and it's empty promises and to continue in the faith that was ignited at baptism. Confirmation is another step of the confirmands faith journey. We see confirmnation as the tools necessary for equiping students to be fully developing followers of Christ.

RHLC Confirmation

Confirmation is a 2 year program with an emphasis on equipping students to know WHAT and WHY they believe as Christians. Our confirmation program covers such topics as: New Testemant Overview, Old Testement Overview, Who is Jesus?, Why did Jesus die?, How can we resist evil?, The Apostles Creed, the 10 Commandments?, etc... Our typical meeting is 30 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of small group discussion. This year we have posted all of our Instruction Sessions on the web in order that students and families with busy lives can still participate in our Confirmation Program. It is our deepest desire that you would join us, but this is a small way to keep you connected to our youth minisrty. *Students are also required and encouraged to volunteer 12 hours a year. This can be done at the church through things like acolyting, service projects, childcare, etc..., or outside of our church through things candy striping and soup kitchens. Serive is a chance to liveout our faith in the community. For full details of service opportunities and requriements please contact Isaiah Coughranat icoughran@redhillchurch.org.
